Data Editor Tool on AppSource and Volodver LLC

I would like to share some news: the Data Editor Tool is now available on Microsoft AppSource, completely free and still open source. I am also announcing the launch of Volodver LLC, a company dedicated to building and publishing a range of extensions and applications for Business Central.

Data Editor Tool on AppSource

I have long wanted to publish the Data Editor Tool on AppSource, but a lack of time and a number of hurdles kept getting in the way. Fortunately, I finally found the time and completed the entire journey, from forming a company to publishing on AppSource.

Data Editor Tool on AppSource

This is exactly the same version as the PTE, with only a few differences: a new ID range and a company-scoped suffix. These are necessary to avoid any conflicts with existing extensions.

I also deliberately chose a different app ID for the AppSource release. This allows users who rely on the PTE to continue using it without any conflicts with the AppSource version. The choice is yours, PTE or AppSource, and both versions can be installed side by side.

That said, the AppSource version is the better option if you want to be sure you are on the latest build. I often see people running an old version of the Data Editor Tool without updating it.

All code for the AppSource release is available on GitHub in the AppSource branch.

I also created a user guide on how to use the Data Editor Tool.

Volodver LLC

I am pleased to announce the formation of Volodver LLC. This has been on my mind for a long time, I have many ideas and a clear goal to help grow the Business Central market. The company will develop and publish a range of extensions and applications for Business Central on AppSource, both paid and free, with a strong commitment to open source.

The Data Editor Tool on AppSource is essentially the first application published by my company. I believe releasing a free extension is a strong first step toward the community and the market.

Summary

I have come a long way as a developer in the Microsoft ecosystem. I do not intend to stop there: I remain a developer, and I have also decided to try a new role by founding a company. I am deeply grateful to the Business Central community, which inspires me and motivates me to keep growing.

It is also important to note that I am not leaving my current company, beeDynamics ag, as an employee. I am very grateful to this company for consistently supporting my ideas and for the freedom it gives me.

Stay tuned!
